Friday's Hearts In the News

Hearts and their arrhythmias are everywhere, and no where more than the news this week:
  1. Jim Harbaugh, the NFL's reigning Coach of the Year and the face of the 49ers' resurgent franchise, had what the team termed a "minor procedure" performed at Stanford Hospital on Thursday - my bet: cardioversion.
  2. 5-hour energy drinks under federal investigation for possible proarrhythmia - reporters decide to test the theory on one of their own:  "In an unscientific test at Florida Hospital Tampa’s Pepin Heart Institute, we had photographer Taylor Vinson drink one 5-hour Energy drink..."
  3. Jeff Green of the Boston Celtics - is back from repair of his aortic aneurism.
  4. Who knew?  It seems there are concerns that Pittsburg Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s rib dislocation could puncture his aorta.
I know.  Nothing profound here but, hey, it's Friday!

Not only that, but Mike Ditka had some sort of neurologic event (TIA/RIND). Could it have been from silent atrial fibrillation?
