Still Smoking? Look at This

From England, this picture is one of many to appear on cigarette packs to make people think twice about smoking:

However, this particular package slogan might be considered misleading given the proximity of the turmor to this man's airway and carotid arteries: his death might not be so slow after all...

21:00 - And if this is not enough, comes this report today suggesting that gene expression changes brought on by heavy smoking may persist long after the smoker has kicked the habit.

When I was a resident, we had a patient whose tumor "ate" into his carotid artery. It was horrible for all involve. It still haunts me.

Let's see, we can irradiate it, then remove it, but let's hope he does not get a catheter related UTI.

You bet, else you might not get paid for your efforts! (Don't you love P4P?)

With 20% of us still smoking, how many of these type tumors do you guys see?

joans-

Thankfully, tumors this large that have been left untreated are unusual to see these days, but it still happens. Denial is a powerful defense mechanism and sometimes people are too embarrassed or self-conscious to come forward to begin therapy early.

Interesting little ditty...but "kimshee" as a synonym for crap?

FYI 60 million koreans eat this food nearly everyday so please don't bleat your ignorance just because you needed a rhyme. The Big Macs you Americans love to eat are much closer to the crap end of the food scale, IMO.
