"Teaching team will be off tomorrow. New plans and orders to be placed by attending. Housestaff cross coverage available for urgent matters."
So who exactly is doing the teaching?
Attendings: take note.

Translation: The university hospital teaching service attending, residents, interns and students are off. Please call patient's primary attending and other team housestaff for emergency.
Shouldn't the term really be "learning service?" Perhaps that wouldn't be so demeaning to those left to do the work when the "learning team" is off.
Also, providing contact information (specific names/pager numbers) should be a pre-requisite for ANY signout note, especially one for EMERGENCY coverage.

Hey, if they could write clearly, lucidly and well, they wouldn't be writing on charts.
