I have a treaddesk. It's actually genius. I heard about it from James Levine at Mayo, and adapted one for my own use. You'd be astonished at what you can do while walking between 1-2km/h. It's practically autonomic. The secret if you're a fat boy like me is a high-torque treadmill like a True so there's no lugging with each footfall. The nicer ones like the Steelcase (and mine) use a hidden control panel so you can get closer to the work surface.

It makes being a geek a vastly less sedentary gig.

It would prevent DVT during those 5-6 hr cases.
