We've come so far, but have no idea of where medicine will take us next.

Dr. Wes, Forgive my interuption. Can't find the appropriate post regarding the FDA and its lapses. Please read NYT, 9/24/10, article: New FDA Transparencies Flexibilities. I don't know that it is totally relevant to your post, but it is information that should be considered as other issues arise.

This is a good example of the triumph of emotion over reason, common sense and humanitarianism.

We all agree: sad that Tara died.
We all agree: great that 5 people gained improved lives.

What we need to consider are:

Our Constitution says that we may not be deprived of "life, liberty and property without due process of law."

Denying a person the right to SELL his body parts is unconstitutional.

Denying a person the option to SELL his body parts denies millions of persons around the world the right to a better life.

I am one of many who WILL NOT agree to any "donation" of my body parts unless my heirs benefit substantially in an open organ market.
