Starting this month you can find these gift cards at any Winn Dixie and in November you can find them at CVS pharmacy stores.Just be sure you know when you're going to get sick!
There are two types of gift cards available. One is called "the blue health care card" It acts like a temporary health insurance. For $59.00 it gives you health insurance coverage for one to 2 1/2 months based on your age. Here's how it works. You buy the gift card at the store, and the person receiving the card activates it. Then they enroll in a variety of plans offered. After that, you'll receive a package in the mail with a member id card.
You can use the temporary insurance gift card to see a doctor, a dentist, at the pharmacy, or for lab work.
The other gift card is called the family blue discount card. It's $19.00 but unlike temporary insurance, this one gets you 3 months worth of discounts on dental, prescriptions and vision services.

Just a little info about Insurance it is defined as the equitable transfer of the risk of a loss, from one entity to another, in exchange for a premium, and can be thought of as a guaranteed and known small loss to prevent a large, possibly devastating loss.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is yikes!
ReplyDeleteAren't you a little bit curious about this? A red flag went up for me when I read that one was to choose a particular plan after activating the gift card. I smell a rat - and a large percentage of denied benefits for being preexisting.

ReplyDeleteAccording to the Blue Cross Blue Shield, Florida literature, several plans exist:
"With our Value Plans such as GoBlue, you can’t be denied coverage––there’s no medical questions asked. Value plans do not include hospital coverage.
• Lower Premium Plans* offer traditional medical coverage with higher deductibles and copays for a lower premium. What’s more, you can choose plans that provide only hospital and surgical or basic health care benefits.
• If you want Comprehensive Health Insurance Plans,* consider a predictable cost option. Choose from a variety of deductibles, low copayments and coinsurance for covered services."
As always, the devil's in the details. What these cards seem to do is make sure the insurance company gets some of the cash a bit faster...
I predict a lot of disappointed folks who get these "gift" cards.
