This is kind of interesting. Only thing is, the presence of bacterial odor may not necessarily imply that pathology exists since the patient might just be colonized with the organism.
A friend with chronic sinus disease says she can tell when she's got a sinus infection by the way things smell to her. Apparently, she can smell her own infections. She also has pseudomonas colonized in her sinuses, which I've heard is not a good thing (?).
