The optimistic and confident tone of some predictions of viral circulation and of the impact of inactivated vaccines, which are at odds with the evidence, is striking. The reasons are probably complex and may involve "a messy blend of truth conflicts and conflicts of interest making it difficult to separate factual disputes from value disputes" or a manifestation of optimism bias (an unwarranted belief in the efficacy of interventions).Interesting read and worth a look. I think the difficulty clinically is the lack of a rapid, reliable test to confirm the diagnosis of influenza.

Will MOC history be written by the victors/those with the connections and power to do so?
ReplyDeleteThe lawsuits/legislative actions may end up being the only sources of information about the fraud perpetrated on physicians and patients by the ABMS.
