I am the patient and this was for upper GI work, and that's about the length of detail I will go into that.
I called and asked Cigna about the denial. Long phone call short, they indicated that if my doctor was making mistakes by ordering test that had no scientific backing, what does that indicate long term? I am appalled by the amount of money insurance companies make from premiums and setting such high deductibles only to turn around and deny services such as breast cancer reconstruction after mastectomy?! Most of us have been trained to do these without the need for 3D mapping with very good results. Interesting how 3D mapping would be justified for these procedure based on Cigna's guidelines even though it probably isn't really needed. I wonder how they would like it Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18943510.post-50590300662434732372013-05-31T10:22:54.119-05:002013-05-31T10:22:54.119-05:00Just some numbers that you may be interesting for ...Just some numbers that you may be interesting for you about Cigna:

Market Capitalization: $19 Billion
Total Revenue 2012: $29.1 Billion
Total Revenue 2011: $21 Billion

That extra $8.1 billion comes from denying claims like your.

Gross profit 2012 $11 Billion which is up from $9 Billion in 2011.

I am sure that Dr. Wes makes 20% more every yearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18943510.post-83792133453414793312013-05-31T09:08:46.868-05:002013-05-31T09:08:46.868-05:00Excellent summary, Dr. Wes.
