I highly recommend "Transforming Health Care" by Charles Kenney regarding Virginia Mason's use of the Lean system to literally transform how it delivers health care (it is VERY eye opening). And clearly, I am a nurse first and very proud of that fact, since research shows outcomes to be superior with NPs providing care, even in some acute care areas.
